My swap eggs I candled the other day. I got eight from my partner and 3 were clear. I originally had them in the incubator but have since had a hen go broody on me so have put the eggs under my hen. 5 eggs are left and are due to hatch somewhere between March 25-27.

There are definitely chicken Gods. How else would I get a 100% hatch rate on eggs shipped to me from PA, right Bob. I am so enjoying your little cochins. I took more pics yesterday and have to get them uploaded but they are doing great. How long before I know if they are male/female and if they are frizzled? Do you know? I hope you get a great hatch. You deserve it.

It took a week or so for the frizzles to start showing their upturned feathers, the end of their wings started first. after about two and a half or three weeks, you should see the roosters have a little larger combs, the pullets comb will stay really close to their beaks, and the roos will start growing into little spikes very fast!!

And I guess you have a point about the chicken gods with that kind of hatch rate (It was better than mine with my own eggs from the back yard, explain that one?)

I think they felt bad for me because I had not been having good hatches with any of the shipped eggs. So I think it was out of sympathy. And I really think that the fact that I put them in the carton with the large end up and just left them there and did not fool with them the last few days helped too. I was gone for two days so I just "set it and forgot it" so to speak. Maybe that is the trick. Will definitely use the carton again this hatch and let you know. Although the person I got the araucanas from warned me that the hatch is questionable, so I won't be too hurt. But we will see. I can't wait to see these guys mature.
