Mary, any news? I hope you got more than one to hatch. By the way, the only color silkies I have are blue and black. So not sure about the color you are seeing. Post a picture for us. I can't imagine. Hope to hear from you soon. I know it is a holiday weekend but I am dying to know.

well i hate to tell ya but it's a partridge, lol have no clue how that happened. my hatch is over. after nothing for so long i slowly popped tops and 3 were dead.

2 were breech with backs up, looks like they died a day or so ago cause couldn't turn around in egg to pip, never seen that before. other one was full of sticky goo, my guess is from humidity prob cause i had to move to other sportsman when chicks started hatching sticky. i got that one and a blue or black? i'll take pics and upload in a few min.

i miss counted on seramas a few more hatched total hatched was 24 babies. alot of them died just before pip. i had 51 eggs go in bator, about 3 were scrambled when i cracked them, all the rest had dead babies, so r they hard to hatch?? heck ya seramas r the hardest thing i have ever hatched but we had lots more luck this time. i'm totally excited!!! 26 new babies t love!!!

Oh Mary, I am so sorry. I have had that happen when my humidity was not stable too. I hatched in an egg carton this last time with bob's eggs and they did great. Will be doing that again with future hatches. I think it helps them to know which end to head toward?? Not positive though. I will send you more eggs anytime you say. I don't know how you would get a partridge chick though. I only have black and blue and have been getting almost all splash and blue from them. I do have one faverolle pullet whose eggs I seperate from the silkie eggs. It is possible I guess that my kids mixed one in there. DH lets them gather sometimes but they don't get to put the eggs up, just bring them in. Could be that her egg got put in with yours? Would be a silkie faverolle mix. That would explain the odd color I guess? Please post a pic. I am so sorry the others did not make it. I would love to send you more eggs to try again though. Just let me know when. Ok?

hey it happens it is the gamble ya take with any shipped eggs, no probs and no worries. i'm just happy i got babies to spoil!!! the main prob was just the seramas r so touchy to hatch. i was amazed that many made it and my gosh the colors!!!! yep i hatched useing the cartons to and so much nicer from now on will always use them. seems to hatch better and alot faster without needing help.

nope it is a pure bred silkie not a mix. i raise salmons also don't look anything like one or the color of it looks 100% silkie. drk skin and 5 toes. the blue/black one has a kool vault i love that and a chubby little beard what a sweetie!! mike said only other color it may be is a gray but ons my partridges hatched out very similar are partridge babies my gray baby looks different than this one.

her is the vaulted one at first not sure color but i think it's a blue one. got 2 more pics i'm uploading to photobucket.

Well, I have some dark blue that came from a blue/black breeding and some really light blues and then black. So maybe they are just a darker blue than you have seen? Or maybe there was another color in the ancestry and it somehow got passed down? Not really sure. Can't wait to see a picture, and glad that blue/black one at least has a nice vault. Makes me feel some better.

I can't imagine on the other one. But I did go back and look at pics of some of mine when younger. This girl is very blue now but when youger, you can see she was a bit dingy.

This is her now.

Do you think that could be it? She could carry some partride somewhere down the line, dirtying up her coloration? Or maybe her blue just starts out dingy and then is ok? What do you think?

They are all cuties either way. I just feel terrible about your hatch.

look at last post i added 2 more pics. it's a dark blue had to look under the heat light, my liveingroom has dimmer lights, lol couldn't tell till i looked closer.

oh cheer up i love my babies so don't fret at all and they r beautiful. i'm trying not to hatch anymore i don't absolutely have too cause i need these all to hit 4 weeks so i can vaccinate whole flock to get ready for show season. so no worries about sending more eggs i got lots of babies here i need to get ready for the season but thank you for the kind offer.

Glad you like them. I look forward to seeing pics as they grow. Hopefully they will both be nice pullets for you or at least a nice looking roo, huh. I think at least half of the silkies I have hatched lately are roos. But some are really nice. So maybe I can sell them. Have to figure out what to charge in our area though. I am going to try and get a few serama eggs to try, will let you know how it goes. I probably wont get any to hatch if you had that much trouble. Wish I could get a broody right now. Anyway, talk to you later. Heading off to bed.
