I want to hatch so bad. But I currently only have 2 silkie cockerels so that's not happening. Haha. I do have an order of chicks arriving Friday.
Jersey Giants. I'm really excited.Oooh, what kind of chicks? I love getting that cool from the PO.
I have been recently tempted to try them out, but... They just arent my type of bird. Are you raising them for meat or eggs? or both?Jersey Giants. I'm really excited.
Both. I have a family of 5 to feed and I really like knowing where our food comes from. I also grow veggies for us, and we raise pigs sometimes too. Right now we don't have any pigs though.I

\I'm on incubation #3 this year for myself. I have my 5 year old running it for the first time ever she marked the 7 day aircells on on Sunday. These are mixed breed eggs from my sister. You guys reminded me that Dorian is coming here Saturday, and is supposed to still be a cat. 1 and I'll likely loose power since the trees along my driveway knock out the power on normal days. :/ Good thing there are only 11 eggs, I should be able to fit them all on my belly under a pillow if the power does go out.
It's a hova bator with an auto turner not much space for water bottles. I know body heat will keep them going. I some how managed 12 hours before with 8 eggs. :3Cool, thats great!

Ya know, i just did a hatch where the bator was about 4-5 days in, and git unplugged for about 2 days and still had 14 chicks hatch, sooo... dependong on how long the power is out, they might be ok, but just in case, i fi were you, i would stick some full water bottles in there as they help to keep the heat in, and do not open the lid! That is.... if the power goes out.
