The turkey who's gender is in question! (Pics)

it does look like a Male judging from the snood, and the front of the neck area.
Heres a pair of one muture and one young Wild hens getting the strut on from early this spring..

Definately a tom. That drooping snood and all that red is a dead giveaway but even moreso is the "pop" you described. The hens can imitate the strut but not the pop. That turkey should be trying to gobble also.

chickenannie those are two hens in the pic's.. if you seen my wild males you'd see the big big difference...LOL

The girls/hens do this every year in early spring right before the breeding season gets underway..just i don't carry a camera to often up to my flight pens to catch pic's like these..i was happy i finally got a shot of these carrying on..what a ruckus it was..

Okay, I have learned from this thread that I STILL don't know what breeds my turkeys are. But my 'white' one looks just like yours, Bell. I thought he was a boy, then a girl, then a boy. But neither have popped. I wish I knew what that sounded like. I'm guessing it sounds like "pop"?

Mine are 4 months old, almost. Where did you get your royal palm from?

If you look at the second picture of the RP you will see a crease in the breast feathers If you are still able to hold him/her you should be able to feel around that area for the stubble of a beard. As young as it looks probably not sticking out yet from the feathers. You would feel it though. Very course thick hair about the diameter of a dime.
I Love RP's myself, we have several...
