The ULTIMATE list of DUCK Treats and Supplements...

I have to give my two cents about the pears! My birds are nutty crazy over them. We tried cutting them up for them, but they prefer to eat them whole. The seemed to have more trouble with the pieces than with just tearing them up once they get soft. The other day we walked out to our pear tree to find the birds going to town on a basket of pears we'd picked. They ate about 30 of them in one day. I was

shocked. It's a feeding frenzy every time we take some out to them or they find them on their own. lol I would put it up there with watermelon and peas. lol

I have been feeding our ducks some over-ripe pears - which they ignored. And then some perfectly good pears - which they ignored. Guess I save the pears for the humans!
So weird! We have 25 ducks and a goose and they are all crazy for them! I have noticed ducks can be hesitant to try new things until they taste them. Maybe they need to be tricked into trying them to know they love them. lol

So I'm sitting here with a cup of green tea, which I've been drinking a lot lately because I keep hearing about its many health benefits. It got me wondering, can a duck drink green tea? Would it be beneficial? I've read about people giving dogs and cats certain types of tea to help treat cancers, but I've never heard about green tea or whether birds can drink it. Since it's healthy, I'd love to give it to my duck. Then again, it does have a bit of caffeine, which makes me wary. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

I try to keep all animal care simple/healthy and don't bother with treats as they have the whole front acre to nibble on. They have access to fruit trees but never seem to bother with downed fruit thats rotting(unlike the chickens!)

My pekin Sampson is a cat and dog food lover, but I learned a new one tonight: molasses ginger cookies. I have no idea how bad this is for him, so I limited it, but I read that molasses peanut butter cookies are a general home made dog treat. He begged so bad for them! Any opinions? He also loves pomegranate and pineapple, and begs for cooked crab. He also always tries to dip into wine glasses, which is an absolute no no.
What an amazing baby to come from a pathetic squashed little egg!

Thank you for this list, I love it! I have two duckies, a Campbell and a Buff. My Buff is CRAZY about cucumbers and my other likes bell peppers. Now I can experiment with what they like and what they don't like knowing what they can/cannot eat :D

So far my ducks have mainly loved the peas. I tried watermelon and they left it alone. So for now it's peas and corn and when I tried blackberries Sister Fiona is the only one who likes them so I don't put them out as much so she doesn't "od" on them...lol
