I did some experimental breeding with my mixed flock last spring and got these beauties.
Blue CM roo over a legbar based OE (hence the crest).
Blue CM roo over light brahma.
Black JG over EE hen. He has a sister that is the same color, minus the darker male feathering.
Blue CM roo over dark brahma hen, a pair of sisters. Black one is my favorite but both lay a nice big egg with a heavy bloom that makes them look purple/plum.
Also have a pair of these sisters, blue copper maran roo over a mutt hen that is both barred
and laced, so they were sex linked and I could tell right away I had 2M and 2F. Will be hatching more from that hen to see what else she can give me.
And my first 3rd generation bird. Grandpa was a black JG, grandma a SLW. Dad was the son of the two, mom was a Cornish cross. He will (hopefully) have many children.
I've also got a pair of bresse x blue copper maran sisters (older photos).
And their brother who is no longer with us (spoilers he went into the cooler in the background)
And finally possibly my prettiest pair of sisters (though these are old photos). Silver and Goldie who both lay olive colored eggs! Mom is a mutt who looks like Goldie with a little less patterning, dad is a blue copper maran. Hoping to get more like Silver this spring.
Plus a little brother to the above sisters. He won't be staying too much longer.
