*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Edwin laughed loudly. "Mother plans to marry you to that Duke? Have you ever seen him?" His laughed subsided. "I hope Mother was joking, that Duke–well, you'll find out soon enough," he said seriously.

(Crazychick check my last post with Edmund)

Edmund dismounted and held the reins of his and Gwen's horse. They waited at a distance from the house.

Gwen continued on nervously. The girl saw her and quickly ran around the house. "Wait!" She tried to follow her, but when she turned the corner she saw nothing. She turned back to Edmund, defeated.

Edmun smile at her. "Don't worry. Maybe my winsome smile will accomplish what your lovely face couldn't," he said, chuckling to himself. He dismounted and handed the reins to Gwen.

Gwen laughed outwardly, silently hoping that the girl wouldn't. She shook the thought away, unsure why it had been there in the first place.

Edmund knocked on the door. A minute passed, then he knocked again. The door opened by a large, bearded man. Edmund frowned, then remembered what he was supposed to do. "Sir, might you find the kindness deep deep down in your heart to let me and my, um, sister! stay the night?" He hadn't thought ahead of time of what to address Gwen as, and he wasn't sure she'd like to be introduced as his wife.

Gwen saw the large man and waved. The girl now seemed like a much better person to ask. She slowly walked up. "Hello. My name is,er...Eleanor?"

Edmund smiled at her.
The big man frowned. "Who are ye?" He asked in a gruff voice.
"Just two weary travelers, looking for a place to rest our heads for the night," Edmund said in a dramatic voice.
The man frowned. "Emilee!" He bellowed.
A second later the girl they had seen earlier appeared. "Yes, father?" She asked.
"These two young people wish to stay the night. Fill up two bowls of stew!" He commanded.
Edmund out his arm around Gwen and pulled her a little closer.
"Ye can tie yer horses round back," the man said as he walked away.

Gwen smiled. "Thank you kind sir, we are in your debt." She turned to fetch her horse.
He man sat down and ignored his guests for the rest of the night. The girl, Emilee, spooned stew into two bowls and set them on the table.
Edmund took the saddle and set it on a post. "Apparently my winsome smile does wonders," he said jokingly
