Edmund, Emilee, and her father mounted their horses and headed in the direction Gwen had been taken.

Fawn could hear neighing in the distance.

Redd decided against lighting a fire, and pulled out his sleeping mat.

Gwen was lying across the lap of the rider. Everything blurred by as the rushed through the woods. She tried to move, but her hands we tied and she was still dizzy.

Fawn galloped her horse northward. She was getting closer to the neighing, and, hopefully, Redd.

Emilee was exhilarated. Her father never let her ride with him, but somehow this time he had let it slip.
