*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Alfric allowed himself to be guided by a well dressed doorman to the hall in which the ball was being held. After opening the door for him he smiled warmly and stepped back into the hallway to await further guests. Alfric blinked in the lights, the hall was alive with laughter and chatter, the masked guests dancing and wandering around the great expanse of the room dreamily, champagne glasses in hand. A bead of sweat rolled down his neck and he went to wipe it, he realised then that he was shaking and blushed nervously beneath his mask. Another man stepped up and asked for his jacket, to which he complied. Undoing the buttons on his robe and pushing it into the mans arms. He looked him up and down, and Alfric could see that his smile was forced. He decided to take a seat on one of the empty day beds pushed against the wall.

(Nope :) So what's going on with Alena?)
(Dunno. Somehow that section got dropped. But, here, I'll pick it up)

Katrina decided to enter now. She opened the door abruptly, making sure to make a lot of noise as if she had just come up.
Edwin quickly released Alena's hand and looked up, scowling slightly.
"I brought ye some tea, your highness, and Alena," Katrina said with a smile. She looked from the prince to the maid for a reaction.

Since Herja didn't have anywhere in particular to go, nor did she know where anywhere in particular was, she simply let the horse guide the way, knowing the horse, being well groomed, had a home. It was probably a very well to do home, as a farmer's horse would neither act nor look like this one. Perhaps Herja could get away with sleeping in the hay a few nights without being noticed, she thought. Both horse and rider settled into a rhythm after a while, having worked so hard, the horse, finding she could not unseat Herja, started to accept the new situation, though she did not like it. India was becoming tired enough that she just wanted to go home. Not to say that India didn't try to scrape, buck a little, or toss her head some the whole way there. By now, she slowed to a brisk walk, almost trot, to save energy. Herja continued speaking and singing softly to the mare, accompanied by an occasional pat on the neck whenever she was good. Herja knew it might take longer than she had to work with this horse. Who knows what the owner would think of a stowaway!

After several mintues of searching, William gave up on searching amongst the many masked ladies for the princess. He was about to sit down when he spotted a lovely young woman sitting nearby. Perhaps she was waiting, and wanting, to dance. He slowly made his way over to where she was, causally looked around before asking, "Would you care to dance?"
(Gwen)

Richard returned, not emptyhanded. After Linnet had refreshed herself, she felt considerably better but decided against letting Richard know.
"Thank you, kind sir, for the drink," she smiled at him. "I think though, that I shall sit a little while longer till this headache passes." Richard nodded. He stood there a moment without saying anything, but then turned to her and said, "Very well then. If it is fine by you, I think I will see if that lonely lady over there wishes to dance." Linnet smiled and nodded her consent, eager to be rid of him.

*Jane is with Cliffton*

(Redd and Richard are both open to dance, if anyone's interested ;) Crazychick I know you love these guys )

Edmund's last sentence caused Fawn to turn nearly bright red. She quickly looked away to the floor, trying to avoid eye contact at that moment. "The rose petals were an excellent idea," she murmured, studying the ground too intently.
"Yes, they were. As was the rosemary, which was your idea," Edmjnd replied. He spun her around, dipping her as the song ended. Fawn rose up, breathless and blushing.

Gwen had been standing in the corner, absolutely bored. She had expected more from it. "I would love to dance." She said, flashing him a sparkling smile.

Peter couldn't find Jane, so he took the drinks to an empty table, and sat alone.

Alana jumped at the sudden click from the door. Quickly she scooted away from Edwin. "Thank you."
