*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

"Yes." He said firmly, keeping his eyes locked on Edmund. "Fawn, you'll know her, won't you, Sir?" He added, judging that this man clearly held some kind of authority here.

Alfric coughed, phlegm (why on earth is it spelt that way?) rattling in his chest. "I heard her down there." He wheezed, gesturing behind him.

(They must of had too much of your English tea right before they put that word in the dictionary)

"So you were guarding her, then you lost her somehow, and then you heard her down where?" Edmund tried to put this splotchy story together but nothing really made sense.

(So why haven't you Yankee candles changed it to Flem yet?)

Alfric paused to gather his thoughts. "I was guarding her but.. She wanted to look for someone and.. I was following her, then she disappeared, then.., I heard her... and...."

(They're too busy trying to figure out what malfunctioned in the recent trip to Mars. They sent up a woman, but she returned in the form of a iguana)

"She disappeared. Just plain gone, disappeared?" Edmund desperately hoped the kid would get on with the story, preferably in the right order.

(Interesting... So all 300+ million of you are trying to work it out? Now that's teamwork.)

"She's.. Down there, I know it. Sir." Alfric replied. Lying had become so natural now that the truth seemed to feel just as fake.

(Yeah, that and trying to figure out who should be president takes a lot of brains.)

"Take me to wherever you last saw her," Edmund instructed. Despite all his blundering, there was something truthful to be heard in Alfric's words. And it had to do with Fawn, so it wasn't to be taken lightly.

(Well... When you look at the choices...)

Alfric let out a long sigh, closing his heavy eyelids for a good long moment. "Follow me." He replied, turning and walking back into that dreaded cellar. He stood beside the open hatch and glanced up at Edmund. "Down there."

Edmund stared at him, uncertain wether to believe him or not. Looking down into the dark hole, Will volunteered, "I'll go, sir,".
"No, its fine," Edmund said. He turned and placed one foot on the top rung and carefully descended. "James, I want you to come next and then Will," he called up.
