The Wabbit thread!!!! Anything about rabbits

Very interesting article, I almost feel bad for eating rabbit even though we raised them on grass in big open cages and culled them the best way we new. . .
But farms, and the amount slaughtered, the cage size is not right at all.

I have a friend who is going to be breeding rabbits all year for 4h and she going to give me the culls at what age do I need to separate the bucks from the does. I don't want babies I plan on butchering them for meat.

Sorry I have never owned a rabbit. More then likely I end up keeping one or two for my kids but I plan on us eating the rest. And I I have two girl or two boys and they be kepts together if not I figure it out but they be kept in a outside run that have coastal hay and an two oak trees (for shade) and I probably put down some wire or something to prevent digging out. I will get some in August or September so I have time to bury the wire and plant some coastal and other plants in the run.

If you butcher them extremely quickly, no need to separate. But if you are planning on keeping them alive for any length of time, please do.

Oak is poisonous to rabbits, and if they dont die from chewing the, they will destroy your oak trees. Its ok to keep two does together, but not two bucks. They will most likely fight.
