"The Waiting" Support Group

Just wanted to share my list too, 8 days till chicks! (Coming from MMH) My belief and hope that since the first group didn't ever show up was that they got delivered to someone else, who is keeping them warm and loving them completely!

25 Ornamental layers
3 Lakenvelders
3 Black Frizzles
3 Red Pyle Bantams
3 Araucanas

Has anyone ever ordered the ornamental layers? We have a rare/exotic breed farm, and can't wait to add these chickens to the group of interesting animals we have here!

, how many made it out.

Oh man, I am in the same boat!
My first, tiny flock of crested polishes is due to arrive within a week or two and there is no doubt in my mind it will be the longest week of my life.
I can't wait

My brooder is set up. My x-large dog crate is also set up for when they outgrow the brooder, and I have 3 weeks to go.

Oh, yeah, my chicks list is growing. See, the friend that I am spliting the order with is actually paying for my chicks and I will raise her chicks until they are old enough to go home. My initial order was for 12 chicks. She noticed I didn't have any white egg layers so added 3 and the other day added 3 Salmon Favorelles (sp)

so I'm going to have 18 chicks. I think she probably has 18 or so for herself.

I will admit I was fighting the urge to go to a feed store and grab a few chicks. I'm not the most patient person in the world, don't you know?

Knowing I'm going to be overrun with chicks in a couple of weeks has just about cured that!

I told my husband he better get that coop and fence up as soon it gets dry enough if he doesn't want house chickens. Do you think that's enough motivation?

Received my chicks in the mail from MM (a day early even

). Got quite a mix

2 jersey giant
2 speckled sussex
2 houdan
4 sivler penciled rocks
4 partridge cochin
3 delaware
3 buff orington
2 golden polish
1 buff polish
2 mille fleur

All survived shipping (not bad considering it is a balmy 26 degrees outside).

Still have 14 wheaten marans and 8 buff brahma eggs in the incubator (day 5).

Before today I never even owned a single chicken. Well, I had to fill up my empty barn with something

I may be getting in over my head, just a little

It worked for mine. He is not crazy about having 40 chickens in the house considering we already have a 70 lb lab, a cockatiel, a pet rat and 1 beta in the house.
All of which make less of a mess than the boys did.
