I called the PO and let them know so now I'm waiting on a call from the post office!

I've picked up all my chicks, so far, at a hatchery and will go look and possibly get some more at the tractor store the end of the month...but I just couldn't wait until the day I could go to the hatchery!! Hatching day is on Tuesday at Schlecht's and we were planning on going on Wed. I couldn't even sleep the night before...LOL What a dork!

Now I'm counting the days until April 30th and am even planning to take the morning off work so I can be one of the first in line at the TS!! They placed special orders but I missed the last day they took orders, so we went to the hatchery instead. Then I found out that the TS ordered a lot of extra chicks to sell!! I'm there!!!

Good grief, this is addictive!!!

Oh yeah, I'll be at TSC asap after the 13th when they get their chicks and ducklings here. I've got MMH chicks due to arrive the 13th or 14th and church and a party to work around, but I will be there, just in case you know.....

TSC & Atwoods have already been getting their chicks in. My room mate picked me up some standard cochin pullets, standard buff brahma pullets, some EEs, Madagascar Game or Turkens (not sure which) pullets, a white d'uccle, a frizzle cochin, a few oegb (one is crele!!), some saipans (maybe, not sure), and a couple of white silkies.

Not all of the birds came at one time, they were periodic picks throughout the month of March.

I also have an order from a private hatcher coming on the 14th of this month.

All are doing great and Ideal gave me an EE chick (I think).

I was worried because the temps went down into the 40's last night. I thought I might lose a couple, but they bounced back after getting warmed up.

ooh, I like how you only use the base to the waterer and food. Seems like a great way to control waste and provide easier clean up!! I just got my first six chicks today!!

Getting 2 this weekend. And have 9 coming May 30th from Ideal Hatchery. I can't wait any longer this will be my first time raising chickens so I hope everything goes well.

Still waiting to hear from DougD that our Ideal chicks have arrived. They were supposed to ship the 9th. I have to confess that mostly because I'm stressing out over DS's birthday party tomorrow I actually found myself in tears when I had no message from him all day....

I have 25 pullets coming may 28 from Ideal. I couldn't make up my mind on what kind to get so I got like one of everything

I also have 25 black broilers coming may 21 also from Ideal.

Oh I can't wait it seems like an eternity.
But I have an old Chicken Coop (1930's possibly older) that needs a fresh coat of paint and I have to make or find roosts and nest boxes. And I have a run to build, at least that will keep me busy.

I have a couple of the real big round calf hutches that I am going to keep the broilers and a small run

Any way this site has been wonderful
I have learned alot alrealdy.

Kristin, they're here! He's got 'em, I just picked up my four chicks about 2 hours ago! Don't stress, they are fine. They are chirping and adorable.

I was trying to take a good pic of them for you, but I've got them under a red heating lamp and it makes the camera all goofy. You'll just have to trust me that they are cute little chirping brown fuzzballs.

Actually, the occasional chirping is driving my dog nuts. He can hear them but can't see them, since I've got the bathroom door shut to keep the cats out. They are all eating, drinking, and stretching out in their silly sleepy-chick poses under the heat lamp.
