The "We received our chicks the week of 2/17, give or take" Club

That was my surprise chick from MM. I was thinking he (I think it's a he) was a Buff Cochin, but you think Brahma? He is s beautiful that whatever he is, I want more!

No idea lol. I just saw fuzzy feet!

H, lol! I've looked at pics of different breeds and I think he's a Cochin. Whatever he is, he's so gorgeous!

We have really enjoyed having the 6 Cornish X this spring. They were raised along side of the other chicks for the most part. Until we had picking issues with the Plymouth Rock birds. Since the CX don't feather out so fast we had to separate them so they didn't get injured. We still have 2, but one is going to have to move on tomorrow. She is having lots of trouble walking yesterday and today. I don't think its because of weight increase because we have lightened up on their feed a LOT. I think its just because of her weight in general.......that she can't sustain it. Anyway, these have enjoyed running about when the other chicks are out, grazing, dust bathing under my rose bush. They look like a big jumbo jet trying to take flight, when they run flapping their wings. Even though I would love to keep the one that is still in good health I don't know I her body will hold up. Only time will tell. Fresh water with garlic and apple cider vinegar, some fermented feed, some regular feed and grazing daily and the ones left still enjoy getting their one on one time. Talking to them and patting their backs.....and they squawk back.......sounding more like a turkey than a chicken, lol!

A couple of pictures.....

White Plymouth Rock pullet and Buff Plymouth Rock pullet. The whites have been heavier/bigger consistently from week 2 on. They all seem to have about the same temperament though. Curious almost to a fault. Busy bodies that love to forage and be silly.

Checking out the camera, lol.

One of the White Lace Red Cornish pullets. Both of these were so tiny when we got them. Both had pasty butt (I think that is why her tail feathers are a bit anemic at the tips). They had a rough start. But they are doing quite well now!!! This one is the sweetest little darling. Both are smaller than the Dark Cornish that we got at the same time.

Last evening I finally was able to sneak some pictures of my Golden Laced Polish pullets. They are so cute. Still flighty, but slowly improving.

My youngest has named these girls "Lunar" and "Eclipse"

Preening.......

This girl! Trying to blow my cover while I was sneaking pictures from behind the rosebush. She is always begging for mealworms.

Just chilling......

I love it!

Right after this picture I got too close and she spotted me. Immediately bolted. One thing I absolutely love about these girls is the sweet trilling, cooing sounds they make when they are settling down to sleep at night. So sweet!

Aww! All of yours are looking so good!

I'm ordering more this week! Yay! Of course, I'll be so nervous until they get here. I hate that part!
