I LOVE MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Messed up? Wellie eggs are often speckled.
Ok, so I was out of town yesterday and came home to these 3 eggs.... They were all 3 in same box.....
The 1 in question is the darker one on right... It's the darkest egg I've gotten so far and its speckeld on top with dark redish brown . Could it be a Wellie egg that messed up in the coloring process?

Quote: That is not unusual either, the pattern of speckles can be all over the place and change from day to day, just like with any other chicken....especially with a new layer....... look at this one I got from my wellie pullet this week.
..and here are some examples of Welsummer eggs for you to look at.
So I went out to drink my coffee and enjoy my flock. I got locked in the coop and my Rooster Sassy had died. Of course I was yelling for my husband to come get me out cause him and my kids were sleeping. I have 11 hens. What do I do? I'm sad he was a remarkable Rooster !! Very loving and kept the girls in line. My husband held him everyday . There was nothing on him to indicate a animal but a few big feathers of his in coop. He was alive a hour before. I could never replace him meaning his personify. I feel I need and also want a rooster for the girls. Is there a way I go about getting a new one. Like what age he should be ? How long to wait? Those types of questions. I feel sick he was so lovely and such a freak thing.Aw, Thanks Angie!
Oh wow! That's a neat looking egg... Well I got another one today.. Hopefully tomorrow I can catch the one laying...That is not unusual either, the pattern of speckles can be all over the place and change from day to day, just like with any other chicken....especially with a new layer....... look at this one I got from my wellie pullet this week...and here are some examples of Welsummer eggs for you to look at.
I supposedly have 4 welsummers... they are right around 10 weeks old. I noticed recently that 2 of them have yellow legs and the other 2 have pale creamish colored legs. Any thoughts on this? I can get pictures of needed. Thanks. i read that the color of the legs is ..i maybe wrong but yellow is american bred, black is asian, white is european..like i said i read this somewere ..but then wellies are suppost to be from holland and yellow is american bred birds ..so like i said i maybe wrong..
The breed standard calls for yellow legs. However some birds develop leg color over time. So I'd say if they aren't yellow by the time they are mature you have a problem. Right now they are pretty young.I supposedly have 4 welsummers... they are right around 10 weeks old.
