You'll be able to tell who is who after they get a little bit older. The Brown Leghorns will have white earlobes and the welsummers will have red earlobes. Thats about the only way to tell the difference between the two lol. I agree with @aart that Ella Mae looks Cockerel-ish. But if she is a welsummer she is a hen just with a very large crown. Welsummer cockerels and roosters have different coloring than the hens (I think it may be the same with brown leghorn, but not positive). She is most likely a hen though
I've got a dozen Welsummer eggs in my bator right now from someone on E-Bay... same issue, not very dark, well two are nice and dark and two have great speckling, but the rest aren't even as impressive as my Turken, Steve's eggs which tend to be dark and have some speckling...
Oooo I'd like to have one of those Ameraucana color cards!
Wilma's eggs are getting darker, maybe because she skipped a day between 2&3 and between 3&4...building up coating stores?
Maybe due to size concentrating color deposited? All 4 have been 36gms. Will be interesting to observe the progression.
Anyway, thought ya'll might like to see.

My Wellie girl is very mellow with me, she will sit in my one hand as calm as can be at 24 weeks old, but I handled her a lot since she was 3 weeks old when I got her.Hi, hope you all don't mind a question from someone interested in getting some Welsummers. I was wondering what they are like temperament wise? Are they docile, flighty, aggressive?
