The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Whow great price! I was at Orschelins today looking over their chicks just for fun. Nothing that even remotely resembled a Welsummer....boy was my husband relieved, although he had to physically drag me away from the Bantam chicks. There were 4 little silver devils that almost came home with us!

Kelly - here's your boy- as you can see winter got his comb pretty bad - not the best picture as I snapped it with the cell phone so his legs look washed out. they aren't super yellow, but better than they look here.

A good friend told me that she is buying free range eggs for 3 dollars a dozen. The local Amish store raised the price of their brown eggs from 1.75 a dozen to 1.90. There be gold in them thar eggs, pardners.

We pay $8 per dozen for pastured eggs out here in the land of gold... And around $4-6 for free range eggs in the store.

Luckily, we *paid* (past tense) - haven't had to buy eggs in some months!!

I know someone in Omaha that paid 6 dollars a dozen for eggs. She also said they had some other eggs in the store for $10 a dozen. I sell them for three dollars a dozen. People really go for those fresh eggs.
