Looks like a wellie to me, lets see some chick pics!

Do wellies go broody often? I have a serious broody hen! She looks just like a wellie with OEG and a rose comb. She's a mix. Just wondering because of how often she tries. I know OEG are very broody wondering if the two combined is the reason she likes to be a mom. Or if it's the OEG ?

Help...... is this not a Wellie? I bought him as such after a bobcat got my breeder this winter, and now that I see chicks from him, I have serious doubts. (Will post pix of chicks when they're out of the incubator.)

Looks like a Wellie to me....
....front edge of wing is kinda funky, lighter than SOP maybe, and his legs are way too white(should be yellow).

What hen did he cover? Got a pic?

He covered several, all of whom have produced obviously-Welsummer chicks before from the roo that the bobcat got. So the eggs in the incubator now are from a variety of those hens, and so far ALL of them are hatching out looking like something completely different. That creamish-color is pretty accurate in the photo; sure does confuse me!

I wasn't very pleased with this roo when I got him (especially the leg color), but he was the only one in the area and still involved a 3-hour drive.........

Yeah, I'd say he was crossed with something else at some point. Legs, wings, and I think I see some red feathers mixed in his chest, I don't think that's right either. He looks pretty darn close though. Chicks definitely don't look pure, sorry. That's so wrong, someone not being completely honest.

****, just what I feared. Now I'm up the creek - this year's Wellie customers are eager for chicks. I guess I'm out of the Wellie biz, and I had some of Pink's great stock.

They can have some red in the chest, I've read in some circles they like a mix of red and black there.

I'm in Northern TN, Jamestown, I'm looking for 2 unrelaed Welsummer roosters, that are TRUE Welsummers! If anyone out there has a one please PM me. I'm also heading to Chicago Area the end of May so I can pick them up on my way home, June 1st. I need them to be at least 4 months old.
Any help will be appreciated.

I could be wrong on this but the way I figure is a Welsummer is originally a mixbreed it is very possible to have a trait from one of the original breeds pop up, especially if it isn't from a line that has been line bred to standard. Mixing in new blood from another line, both pure can do this. Take for instance a pair of pure bred registered Boxer's ( dogs) I've seen them have a pup with a severe underbite, you'd think probably not purebreed. Boxers were a mix of mastiff, bulldog and terrier, it's just the bulldog genes showing up, such a dog shouldn't be bred, that trait will be more likely to show up again.I have seen one bred and all her pups were perfect, I got one and he was a perfect specimen of the breed.
