The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I'm not sure that's a welsummer...unless it's just the lighting...but at 7 weeks and that red wattlege, I'd say cockerel

In center of pic, yes, cockerel.
Thanks Aart, I thought it was my Welsummer cockrel. I just was not sure which of my pair survived. The first night I moved that group out with the month older birds, something happened and I found one or my pair dead with no apparent cause. At six weeks I had lost track of which was the pullet assuming the place I got the eggs from had maintained the sex ID markings at hatch.
It is good. I have two pullets from a different source for him.
Happy Easter!

After looking at many pictures of both Welsummers and RIR cockerels I've determined that it is indeed a welsummer. There is nothing in my boy that I've seen in any of the RIR roos. I have seen a couple other welsummer roos that have the exact same patterns as mine.
looking at the picture - it actually looks like a brown leghorn

I love my Welsummer. She's around 19 weeks. I'm hoping she'll start laying soon. I can't wait to see those eggs. She's super friendly and curious and she's a great forager.

She's a cutie!! I have a Welsummer, also. She's a dependable layer! However, she didn't begin laying until she was about 26 weeks. It seemed like a long wait but it was worth it!!

I am a new welsummer owner... My girls are great layers as well. I've started the hatching process and it is quite a LEARNING CURVE. I'll post pics of my crew when my phone charges. Nice to meet y'all!
