the Will They Hatch? thread

All I've ever seen on a good egg [ one that hatched later ] was an unmoving mass

Some of them looked like black dots that seemed to float while I turned them. And this is the first time I have ever candled so I very well may be wrong about all of my eggs.

There is a sticky on top of the topics, there are some real good pictures on there. It will show you what you are looking for and at.

I candled last night, day 3 for my roadside eggs and I have plenty fertile!

More than 50% are clearly visible, another 25% look good but are a bit hard to see and the last 25% are either too dark or too porous for a good look this early.

I'm SO excited!!! If the weather holds I *should* have a good hatch.

Good luck to everyone, especially our first time hatchers.

I'm kinda glad its you and not me with that many . I'm just going to wait for lockdown to candle .

Well , the first week is over . One power outage to add the handicaps for these eggs , but the bator is humming along and holding temps well . I'm kinda optimistic there will be a couple or three hatch .

The weather finally started acting like winter is ready to release us , and my chickens seemed to be likeing the warmer temps today . I saw my big CX cockeral cover a Speckled Sussex tonight in the lighted coop , and appeared to be able to get in the correct position for the " kiss " . I may possibly get some chicks from him yet .

Oh, CX over SS? That outta make a purty meaty speckled bird!!! I'd be very interested to see how that cross turns out.

I've got some SS eggs in the cabinet bator batch, so I'm hoping they're developing.

The cockerel is a bit young, about 7 months old and the girls are a bit bossy, so I guess I'll just wait n see

Glad to hear you've not had too many bumps this week either...
