the Will They Hatch? thread

Well after the crisis yesterday with the power outage and temp dropping in the bator, I have 1 pip!

So I am hoping against hope that I will get more as the day wears on and tomorrow as tomorrow is the actual 21st day.....

Well current update is 10 running around in the brooder. Only 2 eggs left in the 'bator now, neither has piped yet. Not sure if they will hatch but it's officially hatch day now. lol

I had to cull my little yoker.

It couldn't get up at all today and when I stood it up it couldn't remain standing. I don't know if it would have been like this anyway but I will have to find a way to keep the chicks away from the edges of the wire floor so they can't get caught on it again.

I have 10 more eggs to lock down today so need to give that some thought.

I have pics and will get them up as soon as the software stops updating.

I have another one for you...the broody keeps moving her eggs and yesterday she left one. When I found it, it was ice cold. They were 3 days from hatching so I thought I'd stick it under her anyway. I candled it last night to see if it was OK. It looked perfectly fine! We could see the blood pumping through the veins. I'm hoping it'll still hatch just fine...maybe a just few hours behind.

That lavender color is one I've wanted to have, though I already have both too many breeds and too many chickens period, to be adding another breed...................................... but I just couldn't resist at that price. [Her eggs have been averaging around $80 per doz on another auction, and the auctions here at BYC have been insane!]

Here they are!!!

The whole gang. The second black one is buried in the bottom right corner, You can just see it under the others.
I stole their Eco-Glow to take pics and they weren't pleased.

My oddities... one has spots!!! One looks like it has a dark mohawk and blotches on it's back.

I'm going to have to get some rings I think so I can tell who's who as they grow up.

I have several with interesting markings I'm not sure what they mean. Defiantly an interesting selection.

EDIT to add: Here you go Steve, thought you must have missed that comment last night.

Sadly I had to put my yolker down. It was worse this morning, couldn't stand even with help.

I'm in the WILL they hatch boat, too - My candled eggs were good to go - moving chicks day 14 - my mother unplugged them for over 12 hours - WHO knows now
