So, I decided to start a diary/thread to just document my growing chicks and eventual breeding and the several generation it will take to get the new breed or breeds I am after.

It is all a fun experiment and I plan to document with pics and taking weights and such.

I will follow up with some pictures in a bit. My beginning breeds are Light Brahmas(3 pullets, 1 cockerel), Delawares(2 pullets), White Rocks(2 pullets), Black Silver Lace Wynadotte(1 pullet) and Dark Cornish (2 pullets)
(All but the DC are supposed to be the sex but of course it's not 100% at this point, but lets hope. The DC are old enough to be sure)

Here are the terrible pictures of the starters. The feathers are just coming out well on the babies. They are around 11 or 12 days old. The Cornish are around 7 and 9 weeks old.

The Dark Cornish are starting to calm a bit. Still very flighty but less scared of me reaching in to feed them and such. They were literally terrified of me reaching in their pen at all just a couple days ago.

The primary group is growing well. They are putting on good feathers and calming well. The cornish look decent-not fantastic but pretty good overall.
I'm pretty sure my Brahma cockerel is the bold one. They are amusing already.

The littles are getting bigger and getting more feathers. It's so odd for the white rock to start with fuzzy charcoal fuzz and develop pure white feathers lol.
I believe my cockerel is the most bold brahma but doesn't have the most black on wingtips so am not sure. Usually, it seems to roosters get less black on neck and more on wings than the hens. We shall see.

They are around 3 weeks old now and the cornish are around 8 and 10 weeks old.
I took a pic of the one I believe is my roo, starting to suspect one of the delawares may be a roo as well either that or a dominant pullet-like to peck me hard when changing the feed and water out.
I will share a few pics now of the few I pulled out and took pics of. The first is my guess for the Light Brahma cockerel. I am guessing by being biggest, being brave and the darker wings.

I think the Dark Cornish is decently bred but not the super blocky of like show quality or something. The Delawares are feathering out the fastest but don't seem to be growing faster otherwise.

Just checking in. Monday heading out to get the fence for the run and then Tuesday the chicks should all be out where they belong. The littles will be about 5 weeks then and are without a heat light inside now adjusting to the cooler temp. They aren't fully feathered but mostly there.

The Chicks are all grown now, lost the Silver Lace and one Delaware due to them flying over the fence and the dog playing too rough with them. Otherwise they are all doing fine.
Awaiting the first eggs. They are 6 months now. They were all sexed correctly. The Brahma Rooster has yet to crow and still has some growing to go.
