Back away from the statue people! It is going up on top of the cabinets (visable from the whole house) next to the remote control mammoth, the Ted Hardy bedazzled black glass chalice, and WT Barbie.

Remember, I said I LIKED it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But I can like something and be disturbed by the splashy bidet grass.

I think a good gift is practical and the receiver will have lots of use from it. A GREAT gift is well-thought out, and may or may not be practical. A GREAT gift considers the receiver's personality too. So my husband did good. I got a chicken statue that will be a nice decoration in the house but will make me giggle when I look at it.

I love the statue. I have stuff like that all over the place. We went to an auction once and there was a 9 foot tall aluminum rooster statue. My dh said, "OMG. We're going to bid on that aren't we." It would have been lovely in the front yard, but I was out bid. I think it went for about $1500 (way over my chicken statue budget). It's really bad when the you go to the auctions and the auctioneers have gotten to know you so well that every time they hold up a chicken statue they look right at you and say, "what will you give me for it?"

Love the statue. Just counted and I have 6 vintage roo/hen pairs gracing my kitchen (plus so many other chicken accessories, I am embarrassed to say). Oh well.

My worst intentional 'gift' was from my ex-husband. He have me rocks for Christmas. Notice I said 'ex'. I felt like Charlie Brown at Halloween ("All I got was a rock.")

My DD always tells me that she hopes I understand that she is going to sell it all in a garage sale after I die. Before she died, she wrote a note stating that it would go to me along with some ceramic chickens because I was the only one in the world that would appreciate them. Everybody in the family hates that big brassy roo, but I love it.
