Ok, so being new to backyard chicken keeping, I have come across tinned of info on DE that is contradictory. So you’re my go to BYC community.

Q1.Should I sprinkle my coop with DE to prevent any insect pest issues?

If yes, should I still if I am using the deep litter method?
Q2. Should I mix DE into my chicken sand bath? If yes, even if my chickens have had past Eye or respiratory issues?

Why expose your chickens with a known irritant that have had previous eye and respiratory problems? DE is a waste of money.
There's no need to treat your chickens or coop unless external parasites are present. Permethrin is the best choice for lice/mite problems.
