Ryan nodded a thanks at her, wrapping his wrist to staunch the blood flow. "So how do you do it again?" he asked her. "I couldn't catch it the first time."

varissa did an easy fluid motion, "you don't want to flick the wrist or you will loose control." she said flicking her wrist and throwing it, it wasn't it the middle but it was on the target. "try practicing first and aim, make sure to breathe and become one with the knife." she said looking at it.then exhaling and throwing the knife, it barely made a sound and it hit the target in the middle.

Ryan examined how she threw the knife. He tried throwing the knife as she had, but ended up hitting the target of the person next to him. "Oops," he tried again, this time aiming carefully. He undershot, the knife coming up short.

varissas hand flew to her mouth as she stifled a laugh. "here" she said guiding his arm and showing him how to throw it. she then threw it and hit the target with his arm. "understand?" she asked releasing his arm.

"Kind of," Ryan tried again, this time hitting the outer edges of the target. He frowned and tried again, the blades slowly coming closer to the target. Finally, one hit the outer edges of the center ring.

"there ya go." she said sighing in relief. in order to be an initiate you had to pass a test, and that included throwing knives to defend yourself.
