I'm so sorry. Judging by your post you're not 18 yet?

I can't believe your step dad would be so inconsiderate of your pets!!

If you can, see about Freecycle (google it and your area) for some plywood. You can get it delivered for free maybe (if you state your bird plight) so you can get it all patched up and you can try again.

Don't cull the pretty lady!

Edit: Sorry I don't know the hugging smilie for this forum. D:

I'd be furious to. Please don't cull the last girl, she deserves to live. If you can't keep her try

craigslist. As pretty as seabrights are, she should be adopted in no time.

Tell your step-dad how you feel, even if he doesn't seem to care, a

normal person would atleast feel guilty. I mean, seriously. It really does make ME

mad just reading this.

Yes it's a bad situation and yes it's unfair.

You'll be so surprised down the road to feel how short these teen years were and how long the rest of your life is. And while your situation is worse than some, it is also better than some.

I have to agree with you that this is not the household for chickens. A little patience and chickens later seem in order to me. You'll have to decide what to do with your surviving one. Perhaps you can find a new flock for him.

Hang in there, it won't take as long as it seems now, and then you can live as you choose. Just start making a plan for that, now. You don't want to try to support yourself on a Burger King salary, either. You'll figure it out and make it work.

Sorry to hear what happened. If I were in your situation that pit bull would suddenly just vanish one day while a certain hen would be safe indoors... Oops.. looks like he got off his chain again.

Having a step parent is never easy and add the fact that he didn't respect your space makes it much worse. Here is the deal though. Unless he is hurting you, he is the one in charge because he is an adult in your home. If your mother allows him to have that position, there is nothing you can do but accept your fate at least until you can move on.

I have loved chickens all my life too but now as a grown up, I don't have to worry what anyone says (except the city of course). The city is like MY step dad cause they are always telling me what to do with my chickens. At first, we went to war with each other but after we both lost in court, I finally accepted my life and we made a compromise. Do you think you and your step dad could come to some agreement?

If you can, that would make your life easier until you are grown up!!!

Hope this helps.

Dave

I've had my chickens decimated more then once over the years, once was also due to a family member (SIL) that was supposed to be caring for the chickens while we were gone for a week. If you keep chickens you will find out that it seems everything that walks, crawls, or flies will try to eat them. Don't give up, you enjoy chickens too much. What you've learned will help you when you have your own place.

P.S. Have you tried dumpster diving to get building materials? Half of my stuff is salvage.

Skitz, that is so sad, but if thats your remaining bird, please don't kill it. As others have said find it a good home. If I was close to you I'd take it in a min. Hopefully in the next few days you'll be thinking more clearly and be able to deal with the bird that survived much better, just think what she went through to survive. You'll survive this too. Also remember we're hear to listen and hopefully give advise.

I found my rooster alive, but he was injured really bad that I had to cull him. This is the first time I cull a chicken and I'm in shock
