The worst things you could feed your chickens.
I’ve always wanted a full list of things you can’t/shouldn’t feed your chickens. So I’ve come to the knowledgeable minds of BYC for help. The only rule for my list is it has to be edible, so you can’t put “chair” or something stupid like that. I want to make sure I’m feeding my chickens right. I think I already know a few of the answers, but one thing I learned about chicken keeping is there is always something know to learn. Feel free to add the reason they can’t eat it to. Thank you

Apple seeds, avocado skin and pits, dry beans, dry rice, candy, onion, raw egg, and raw potatoes off the top of my head

the only thing i don’t feed them is intact eggs in the shell...obviously. otherwise, i feed them anything. theoretically, don’t feed them limes. don’t feed them totally rotten food. however, that being said...aside from eggs in the shell...doesn’t really matter...but there’s a lot of opinions about it online.

I personally don't like feeding my girls junk food.

No leftover human food, mostly veggies and fruits, eggs, and sometimes they get some plain cooked rice, or some corn.

i think the only junk they've ever had is like 4 bites left of corn spoon bread from thanksgiving, and some salmon that they really enjoyed, but I feel like they shouldn't have anything they wouldn't find naturally in the wild like veggies or fruit super often. They get strawberries once a week, they steal tomatoes almost daily when the garden is up..

my brain goes to fried foods

I was thinking things like fast food, fried food, etc... but bread isn’t good for the, either.

Yeah, I would never feed them mcdonalds, so that kinda flew over my mind as a possibility. When I think junk food for chickens, I think of filler foods they don't need. Like bread.
