The Wyandotte Thread

agree it looks welsummer ish, but with a rose comb (I think? hard to see in the pic)

funnily enough, I have 2 welsummer X wyandotte chicks right now !

they look like welsummers but with rose combs, and slightly more mahogany than brown/orange

here is one my barred wyandotte hens i have been working on
pretty bird..i was going to buy some barred rocks but didnt ..i do like the barred birds. most i have seen its like you can get hypnotised if you stare at them to long..haha..something about all those lines..

i have to ask , i have 11 columbian wyandottes and some tails turn up and some turn under is this a normal trait for this breed from a hatchery..just woundering ..mine are just 11 or 12 weeks old..

yes but they are still good birds years ago i bought some hatchery columbians from mcmurray best laying columbians i have ever had and a chicken is how you enjoy having not what other people think i have had some ugly chickens that just made me fill good so just have fun all my birds are heritage but it yours are just the same they make you happy and thats all that matters

It is a common pattern in chickens. partridge rocks, partridge wyandottes, BLRW..... all have the same look at hatch.
Legbar chicks also look the same. I do have a red tinge to the coloring though so whatever they are have red. Will post some more pics in a few days to show how they look at different stages.

Ok, here are couple of more pics at Day 11 (today).

In this picture chick#2 from left and the farthest to the right with its head down have similar head pattern and similar lacing.

whereas this chick in the middle with the V-Shaped head pattern has a different type of lacing. I am not even sure if its lacing. So something is definitely different or off here.

Will post more pictures on Day 14.
