Thanks.
I'm loving the coloring though. I would bet they are even more pigeon blue IRL aren't they?

Hey! Been away from the pc, sorry. The coloring is exceptionally pretty, IMO. Nice, rich mahogany and most of the pigeon blue is very blue. AND, It's looking like 11 pullets and 6 cockerels, instead of the other way around, so, woo-hoo!

Never had bumble foot in any of my breeds, and that includes Wyandotte, your chickens are getting scratched or punctured on the feet from something, I would check out your roosts and places they jump down from and what they are landing on or stepping on.

I have a question folk! My flock is getting close to egg laying age!!!!! These are my first chickens, and I'm super pumped about this. I do have a question tho. They are about 4-5 months old now. From what I understand, they could start laying around 6 months of age. Well that will put us in the coldest part of the winter here in Kentucky. I know that many breeds slow down their laying in the winter, but what about hens that are due to START laying in the middle of winter. Will they still lay, or should I anticipate them laying when it starts to warm up? Or will they just start laying sporadically, and then in the spring they will start laying an increased amount of eggs. I have SL Wyandotte's ( I know this is the wyandoote thread, but just for good measure). Thanks for all of the great advice, I already know I'm going to get!!!

Mine always start when they are suppose to and continue laying through the winter, they sometimes halt laying during really cold spells, -20 to -40, but resume when it warms up a bit, than they really take off as spring approaches.

I was in that situation before & my hens waited until Spring to start laying (I think that was with Silkies). I remember my Wyandottes took a long time to start laying though, more like 8 months I think. My Orps started laying around 5 or 6 months.
