The Wyandotte Thread

Just thought I would join in. I never get around to posting on BYC, but I am thrilled to say I got my first Wyandotte today! He is a lovely silver laced roo. I have him on lock-down right now and cannot wait for him to finish his 30 days so he can join the flock.

Now that your here have fun. SLW are very nice to have around. What other kinds do you have?

Its been a while since I posted and I have been lurking around this wyandotte thread for a while...so what the heck here is a picture of one of my 09 BLRW pullets. I have been working on the red in the hackles and good even deep red color...I like her.

And a picture of my 2009 Blue Wyandotte pullets running around in the mud, working on yellow shanks and good lacing on the girls...they are getting there

While she is a very pretty chicken I would say she is not close to a show bird. I think the angle may have something to do with it but she seems to have a flat back, too long in the back and does not possess the "roundness" so desirable in the breed. "think basketball" the lacing does not look very clean either "to me".

If you look at some of the white bantams on here that are nearly round use that as an example of type and just make it bigger. I think another poster alluded to the birds that Katy has posted those are the"type" you would target. Her SLW are very "typey" birds.

ok i got some recent pics what do you think
