The Wyandotte Thread

Anyone interested in bantam

Black (1 blue hen in the pen)

or Columbian Wyandotte hatching eggs?

I have hatched all I need, but the birds just keep on laying!

Pictures are available, but I have to email or text them. BYC is giving me error messages when I try to load them here.

Our 4H club is always accepting hatching eggs! Your local 4H probally will too.

Hello! I have a question about being able to tell apart chicks. This is my first time ever to be getting chicks. I have hatchery silver laced wyandotte and easter eggers on order, due the 12th of April. I did not request them to be marked. So, I am wondering if I will be able to tell them apart?! Anyone have pictures of silver laced wyandotte babies and maybe easter egger babies??? I would love to see!

The Silver Laced Wyandottes should look sort of like this:

Since Easter Eggers are a cross between Ameraucanas/Araucanas and various breeds, they could be any color, but should all have a beard and muffs. Not always, but usually.

Welcome to BYC

If you go to feathersite.com and look in the chicken breeds under Wyandottes and Easter Eggers, they have photos of the chicks

Mr. FarmStand,
If I got orps, someone would break my kneecaps!

I do have LF black and white wyandotte chicks coming from Urch this spring. Hopefully in a couple of years I'll have a respectable line of birds, eh?

Ahh, I remember, your cockerel is named Little Jerry? Jer gave me some fabulous sl bantams. Then our friendly neighborhood red tail hawk nailed everyone of them. I'm stuck with the LF, lol. I'm hoping Duane Urch's birds will give me more tail rise on the cockbirds.
I am starting to get eggs from both my Black and Buff Wyandotte Bantams. My Black pullet is Mike Sayre line and my cockerel I bought from Jerry at Crossroads.

Lucyfer was originally named Lucy, for it was supposed to be a pullet. Then I thought it was a cockerel (age 3 week photos seemed so) and renamed Lucy to Lucyfer. What do all of you Wyandotte owners think? Is Lucyfer a pullet or roo? They are my first Wyandottes, so I am still not sure. Thanks!
