The Wyandotte Thread

Thank you for the pics Peaky, I have a batch hatching now and I was pretty sure(really hoping!) the first one out was a Splash and it looks a lot like yours!

Thanks guys! We have more hatching this weekend and then on Easter. They are addictive! This splash we were calling "Blondie" because she is alot blonder than the last group we hatched. I actually like the blacks alot.

Keep me updated on the black one. I'm forming a theory that the ones born with a solid black head have a gypsy face when adult. Yours has a little white on the chin so I'd like to see if the black recedes. It always seems the gypsy faces have the best type.

Off to the swap they go! My blue tweens with black faces also have the best lacing on their feathers. I guess I can't have it both ways...

I went outside and took a few pics of the juvenile blues (2 month old group). They're at that ratty stage where they still have fuzz around the eyes. I've already been culling for any thin tails, crow head and gypsy face. I've only had a few with pinched tails so far this year; much better than last year. Now to work on that nice wide head.

All the ones in the top photo are pre sold!

Almost all the babies in the incubator are almost finished hatching. I will post some pics when they're all fluffed out =)

Peaky, One of my hens was good enough to go broody for me so I got to set all the Blue Wyandotte eggs under her & the 3 BLR's are going in the incubator tomorrow!
