I have a question. I am new to chickens and I have a 8 week old silver laced. She is panting more than my Buff Orpington. Do they do OK in the heat or should I worry? I have a fan on and a mister on during the hottest part of the day. It is supposed to be 108 tomorrow. She seems to do fine with the misters on but I turn it off at 6pm. At 104 degrees today she was not panting at all with the mister.

I should get my act together making a web and facebook page, lol. My wyandottes are a work in progress. Not too many people are working with the blacks. My hens are great, the cock birds need work. I need to increase their bulk. It'll take me a couple of years, but I'm patient. My new pet project are my chocolate wyandottes. My friend who I got them from is going to bring them down to the APA bantam size and I'm going to bring them up to large fowl. I love projects! I'm not into selling for a profit; I love the breed. My poor husband just shakes his head...

I'm still starting out too. I got my hands on some nice wyandottes so I'm hoping to continue with making them better. Even though I am just starting I want to get my name out. I already found someone through it I am trading chicks with to expand my bloodlines. Even though not to many people are working on them if you start spreading the word I'm sure more people will be interested. With the Facebook page it has really helped me spread my name and birds around. After you get 50 people to "like" your page you get $50 free in advertising and boy does it help! I went from 60 people liking my page to almost 200 in a few weeks! I still have over $30 in advertising left too. It's a great way to show people what you are doing and the progress you are making. My favorite is the unlimited amount of photos you can upload and it's free unlike creating a website. I think making one would be a great idea for you! It also helps sell chicks so you have some money for other chicken stuff lol. If you make one I'll be the first to "like" it and I'll spread the word about it ! My mom usually does the same (shakes her head) but still puts up with all my crazy bird stuff .
