The Wyandotte Thread

I have one like that!

It is a Golden Laced Wyendotte! You are at the right place.

Yours at 6 weeks has bigger wattles than mine and the comb is pinker. Could be a boy.....

Yes, definitely Golden-Laced Wyandotte, and I agree, it's probably a roo. My GLW's look JUST like that, but at 13 weeks old, their combs are much smaller than this one's, and are just starting to pink up!

Thank you for your answers about my little roo.

I am not sure what I wanted him to be. You see he is the only one so I am going to put him with my Easter eggers. I know I will breed him (sigh) with my girls or if I get real luck and he is a she I have one Easter egger rooster. I might down the road get it a partner. Right now I have WAY to many chickens. I have 86 that are under a year old. I will lower that number once everyone is laying and I can see what I have. At that point I will look for someone local to the San Antonio, Texas area for a partner. I have Polish, Ameraucana(Easter eggers), Guinea, and one Golden laced Wyandotte.

These are NOT culls. He is reducing his flock. He is not going to be selling chicks next year and these are from his breeding pens and he is just thinning them down since he is not going to be hatching as much next year.

I GOT AN EGG from her!

I didn't expect any egg since she is molting

Yay! That is so great!! I can't tell much about your girl but that SLW guy is handsome!!!

Congratulations!

My little 'roo is about 12 weeks old and started trying valiantly to crow this morning. He doesn't have his voice yet, but he'll get it together soon.

He sounds a lot better than my 18 week old FBCM boy!

Hi Everyone,

I have a few chicks that I'm trying to sex, but I'm having a little trouble (in that I don't want to believe what I know is true). These chicks are all a cross between a Blue roo and BLRW hens.

I think I have two roos on the right and a hen on the left based on their combs, my confusion is just that they all seem identical so far in body shape and feathering that feels more pullet-ish. That's what's confusing me. Is there any chance they might all be hens? I can't remember how old they are at this point since we've had chicks coming out our ears.

Here's a shot of their backs.

And do you think this guy is black or just a very dark blue?

Thanks!
