Happy New Years to all my BY friends!!!
What better to do on New Years Eve but take pictures of my chickens and post them for everyone to see. I look forward to your "Constructive" criticism and comments. I'm here to learn!!!

The first set are of my darker GLW.....

This second set is of my lighter GLW....

Holy Cow!! It is always a good show but if they all show up it will be almost twice the size as the last few years. Awesome! Cant wait to see everybody there.

What age do the dottes do well at showing? I ask because they are referred to as a slow maturing breed. Will I be able to show any born this year in the Jan 2014 show? I know they have Pullet classes but are those birds that are close to 1 yr and not say 6 months competing?

Wyandotte TX, I plan on raising 50 quality Wyandottes this year, I would like if you could help me choose which ones I could show in Jan 2014.

Always willing to help out. If you hatch out birds this spring they should have perfect timing to show next fall and winter. Bantam Wyandottes mature a little faster than the LF counterparts. I have a friend who will be showing birds hatched out last spring at Bluebonnet and they are in great shape and fully matured too. The biggest issue for you will be maintaining their show condition thru the fall and winter. The better you take care of them, the better they will look.
There are four classes within each variety. Cock and Hen, birds over a year of age and Cockerel and Pullet, birds under a year of age. It is up to you to select if young birds have filled out enough to compete in the classes. For LF Wyandottes, the earlier you hatch the better and of course here in Texas how well the birds are able to grow and fill out through our brutal summers.
Hope this helps you out and feel free to ask anything else.

Hmmm hear some little cheaps coming from the incubator... The BLR's want to be the last chicks hatched for 2012. Wonder who will be the first out in 2013??? is it midnight yet...

dajen,

I like your light color much better, her lacing goes down a bit farther. I do not know how old they are. Perhaps the lacing with improve with the next molt. they look nice and healthy!
