The Wyandotte Thread

Just found this picture... Sorry if I'm flooding the thread.

It looks like she does have a bunny tail. Hatching out a bunch of chicks and just being aware to try to get the bunny tails out is a good start. Over 60% of all Wyandotte bantams I see have bunny tails. I even saw bunny tails at the Ohio national show in many of the birds.

I'm fairly new to Wyandottes. What is a bunny tail?
A bunny tail is a tail that looks more Cochin than Wyandotte.
A proper Wyandotte tail is a tent shape made of hard (firm) feathers. The inside of the tent has a mixture of feathers and downy undercoat feathers.
A bunny tail is a bunch of soft fluffy feathers...not Standard of Perfection for Wyandotte.

This is a nice open tail as I would call it, looks like a Tee-Pee or upside down V. This is one of the things high on my list and what I am breeding for.

Thank you for confirming that. I'm still new to Wyandottes and remembered a disscussion a while back about bunny tails. The cockerel has a nice tent shaped tail so hopefully this up coming winter when I do hatch eggs from them he will be able to improve the tails on the pullets I hatch.
