The Wyandotte Thread

I should have gotten some buff Orpington chicks, they are so beautiful!

Thank you I love mine they are big pets lol I wanted another layer breed so that's why I got the glw. But I know close to nothing about glw that's why I joined this tread and everyone's birds are beautiful can't wait for mine to completely feather out.

I can't wait til the day I get my first egg from them. Are your GLW chicks friendly or are they sort of skitish also do they fly a lot?

That's the same problem I'm having. My barred rock chicks are calm and sweet, but my wyandottes are wild and very flighty and they don't like to be picked up or petted. Hoping they will out grow this stage!

Need opinions on my girls please. Wondering if I should use them for breeding or not.

My cockerel

When I look at these birds I think of the dun coloration (except the cockerel). It would be a very interesting color to breed for. But if you are wanting to breed toward silver laced they may not be the best birds to breed with just for the fact of the light coloration and the unknown influence on the black. I think the dun coloration is a really cool color. I wish I had these birds to work with!
