I rarely ever see nice SL cochins

(and toes, eyes, T's etc) i've got 7 silver laced and 4 silver/gold laced cross chicks from the same breeder hatched out as of last friday. all doing well, but i have my eye on one... it was shrink wrapped bad, and hatched with BLACK feet... like a silkie's.

not sure if it was bruising from trying to hatch, or something else got in the pen. we'll see. i've also got an older cockerel from her that hatched back in November. type isn't ideal but a whole lot better than hatchery varieties. it's a start.

i stupidly sold that other pair last summer. then picked up a pair of chicks supposedly from that pair, but i really doubt it. they look more like single combed wyandotte/cochin crosses. if you go to gilmanor i'll have at least the roo with me, if not the hen too, to pawn off on someone for a colorful layer flock.

I posted these pictures on the BLR thread but did not receive a response. I'm guessing that this is a roo but want to defer to the experts for their opinion. He is from our first hatch out of our Foley rooster. If he is actually a roo he will be living somewhere else!! I also welcome your comments on him too.

Looks like a boy.

Here's my big BLRW roo. His name is Serrano and he's a sweetheart. We adopted him from someone who wanted to diversify bloodlines. I wish I had more than 3 BLRW girls to mate him with!

And here's my 2nd in command, JayJay :) He's a splash, but a handsome gentle guy.

Hey, y'all. Two questions!

  1. Do my silver laced wyandottes look ok? They don't seem to be lacing up the way I was hoping.
  2. Do any of these chickies look like roosters? I know it's hard to see most of them!
