The Wyandotte Thread

Cool! Maybe we need a good full picture of that award winning bird, out of the cage.

Spent several hours today with my mentor looking over each and every Wyandotte offspring hatched this year....narrowed down the keepers to about 25 Columbian, Blue CW, Black and Birchen from a total of 200. Seven are Columbian and the rest are split between the other color varieties.
Then did the same with the Cochin flock. 6 keepers from a field of 75. Since I have great robust parent stock, I chose to keep only three Blues and two Black and only one Splash.
It was really hard saying "No" to so many pretty birds. But the strong type and color on the ones not making the breeder cut will still be good seed stock for others. The rest will make great meals.
