The Wyandotte Thread

I'm located in North Western Arkansas, the Fort Smith area.
I have been searching the internet and have come across a Foley's Waterfowl who raises SL and BLR, they are currently offering some eggs. Their birds look quite nice. Does anyone have experience with these folks?

Foley has some of the nicest wyandottes in the country. He was one of the main "builders" of the blue laced red variety. Nearly all my stock is of his blood line.

I'm debating adding a gold laced Wyandotte to my flock. What is their temperament like?
They're supposed to be relatively docile, but that's going to depend on the breeder. Good Golden Laced are in short supply, and personality is not a major breeding point. They're the second-oldest Wyandotte and they carry genetics from the extinct Winnebago, so I think they have some preservation value as well as being excellent birds in need of a little genetic stewardship. Anyway, most small breeders at least cull for "meanness" in roos, so it's definitely something you could ask your supplier about.

Ok Ladies and Gents, I've got a question for you. As I'm a newbie at chicken ownership I have no experience when it comes to sexing. I can sit here and read the forums on here day and night(which I do visit fairly often) for a month and still have no idea on whether I'm looking at a young roo or pullet. lol I've already got caught by surprise by one of my bantams who I had THOUGHT was a pullet. Turns out Big Momma is Big Papa so now I'm worried about some of the others. I bought the following SLW from TSC straight run hoping I would luck out. I'm sure on 1 but not the other. Any insight or guesses would be appreiciated about whether I have 2 pullets or 1....They're around 12-12.5 weeks

I'm about 90% sure this is a pullet

And I'm waffling on this one. Pretty red but comb and wattles aren't huge so....

Is there hope?

Sorry about the funky tails. All of my LF seems to be molting tail and flight feathers.

I've had GLW for 5 years and love them. Never had an aggressive roo. Last spring we had silkies, buff ,light, and coronation sussex in the brooder with the GLW. The Wyandotte 's were always the first to greet you. Jump up on your shoulder , go to sleep on your knee. I now have silver laced and red blue laced, I find them to be very similar in temperament . My advice would be "go for it".
