Question to all: Aren't lighter BLRW chicks more likely to be splash than darker chicks? I would be excited, if that's the case! If not, please educate me...

Yes, the lighter the chick the lighter the splash coloring will be in the chick.

Wow. Your birds are breathtaking! I have some 11 week old SLW's from MMM and I'm beginning to wonder if they are even purebred! They carry they're tails like leghorns!
Could we see some photos of your BLRW? The blrw are my favorite I'm building another coop to start a flock of them.

Thanks.

There are some pictures of my BLRW on the top of page two of this thread.

Looks as if I might have seven splash BLRW pullets. I ordered pullets because thesales person talked me into it and now I have no BLRW ROOSTER !

Well thank you for the information. I'll look for a BLRW roo in the future. I want to enjoy my girls with feathers on their backs for a good while before I breed them. Would you believe that I bought them because of their reputed broodiness in addition to their prettiness. I have never had a broody and as soon as one of these girls gets ready I'll be collecting some other birds eggs for her and slip the Wyandotts eggs out into me.

Hello Kathy,

I purchased 25 chicks from a hatchery in MO called Strombergers. The blue Andalusian are the only ones that I recognize as true to type.
but they are so young I'll just wait and see how they develop because I am only just starting to rebuild my flock after being on the move as a travel nurse for a decade, And at this time I am more interested in a variety of egg colors besides easy, friendly and pretty birds, an impossible combination I know. But each breed has their own good and bad characteristics.
