I have a question for any of you Bantam Wyandotte Breeders. Do you experience any difficulties with "hatchability" of your Bantams? Not fertility but percentage of fertile eggs that hatch. I am becoming suspicious that my chicks are not able to turn in the egg when it comes to hatch time. Many times they will get their beak stuck out and then cannot get it back in to turn. I have several other breeds hatching at the same time and have great hatch rates with them so this is isolated to my Wyandottes. Wondering if I need to further reduce the humidity during the incubation for more weight loss ??

Maybe the bantams store a higher percentage of calcium, which makes their shells harder? Perhaps a change in diet just for the bantams?

This is just my personal experience and I can only go on what works for me and I use a 1588. Type of incubator, room they are in and house humidity make a huge difference.

I do not candle my eggs until day 17. I use a automatic turner. Bantams seem more delicate and have a better hatch with no hand movement in the beginning. I do not add any water unless it goes below 30%. I remove the eggs and put into a hatcher after internal pip with humidity at 40-50%. Eggs do not tell time and some take longer to develop and just need more dry time before hatch. I have had some bantams take 25 days to be ready to hatch.
