well, he's got yellow legs (good) overall shape appears ok (tho he seems to be missing tail feathers, so tail shape can't be critiqued). his comb does appear to be dished somewhat, maybe a bit coarse, but overall i think he's nice. now whether the columbian pattern is correct is hard to tell in any of the pics, since they're all a bit fuzzy and washed out some.

I'm not that familiar with proper columbian color patterning, since i tend to avoid any birds that have a lot of white on the belly, since our dirt/mud turns them a nice beige-orange. the backs stay clean, but not the lower halves. LOL

from your descriptions, (cheers and pekin) i'm guessing you're not in the US?

depending on where you are, sometimes finding good stock of certain varieties is more difficult. One of the people on the cochin thread is in s africa, and has been having a heck of a time and is resorting to creating some of his own varieties from ones that are available... (also called pekin there i believe)

(as a side note, just for FYI, you can edit posts to add things you forgot, instead of repeated postings. i'm the queen of k.i.forgot

and 2/3 of my posts get edited and added to. LOL it also helps others, if you quote the post you're referring to, so those who don't read every day have a bit of a clue who or what you're talking about.)

This girl hatched last year from a Buff Laced cross(i think with GL). she was almost all white as a chick but slowly grew in some lacing, I am hoping it will improve with age.

I've always loved the Buff color. I've found that Buff Wyandottes are difficult to obtain.

I adore mine. I got my original ones by chance at a local feed store. someone had special ordered and not picked up. I tried to order more afterwards but all that i got was "none hatched". I have done alright with hatching my own though. Never got a Buff roo but breeding back to the (buff x blrw)son of one of the hens got me some very pretty Buff girls, and now some buff laced.

Here are some chicks that hatched on Monday. Do you think some of them could be Black BLRW? There are a few that the stripe is a dark deep black....just wondering, as I have already sold them. Hopefully the next hatch will be this nice.

I was doing some mowing and bush trimming in the chicken yard today. That silver laced Wyandotte hen I have with spurs (yes, hens can have spurs) has taken over since my rooster passed away. She's bossing everyone around now except the Australorp.

Do any of you pictures of week old Wyandotte chicks you can share? I want to get some and my local feed store has Wyandotte pullets, but they are mixed together. I'm not looking for show birds just pretty colors to enjoy.

What variety of Wyandotte are you getting?
Black Wyandottes are black as chicks, Whites are light yellow or white, Columbian Wyandottes start out like he one in my avatar. Texasmj just posted BLRWS chicks....Silver laced look like little black striped chipmunks....
