Oh my gosh you guys are funny!Oh how much i love this site and its members! You smarties just made my day! Especially the fund raising!!
Looks like a splash-in the last picture, there are 2 splashes. The bottom front/left is a black.
On any blue breed, regardless of whether it is solid blue, a blue laced red or etc, the blue genetics apply. We have 3 different breedings together. My husband forgot to divide them when he took them out of the turner...lol
We should have 2 GL (GL x GL), 5 BL/GL (GL x BlackLaced) and 7 BLR of which now 2 are splash.
How dominant is the BL when covering a GL hen?
Yes I understand the blue genetic chart...well almost. But is a Black Laced Red part of the blue family? We were recommended to use it with our GL to strengthen the color but if its from the blues it doesn't seem like this is a correct combination to advance the GL.On any blue breed, regardless of whether it is solid blue, a blue laced red or etc, the blue genetics apply. Below is the breakdown chart for matings when working with blues.
Blue X Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash

Blue X Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash

Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black

Splash X Black = 100% Blue

Black X Black = 100% Black

Splash X Splash = 100% Splash

when you are mating a blue laced to a golden laced, you are dealing with blue and black, so you will get 50% blue and 50% black in the offspring. Anytime you are dealing with blues, you have a possibility of getting blue, black and splash. Deciding if using a black laced red coming out of a blue laced breeding program to work on the golden laced, I can't give you a 100% definitive answer because the opinions on this vary. It just depends on what you are trying to do and what kind of limitations you have, such as if you have no other Golden laced to work with. I personally would not necessarily be in favor of doing, only because it would open up a different can of worms if your Golden Laced are from a separate line of breedings than your blue laced.Yes I understand the blue genetic chart...well almost. the blue is carried the same, regardless if it's a patterned bird or solid. but crossing gold laced with red laced, you're going to end up with either too dark or too light, depending what your goals are.Yes I understand the blue genetic chart...well almost.
