The Wyandotte Thread

I don't know why they are there but they are there. I DID get straight combs a good bit with my first breeders from Foley. I am hoping that is going to be much less this round. Rose comb is dominate.... so they can have one copy of each and still look rose comb.

BTW I know BLUE and maybe BLACK have leg color issues so they are a work in progress to get the legs more yellow looking than slate.

Well I will have to see how much work I have this yr. This is the first yr I'm breeding them although I have had them for 1 1/2 -2 yrs building my beautiful birds....with the 2 different flocks now. I hope they all do good...

I was planning on showing some of the adults on 4-h to see what we needed to do if any improvements needed to made.

Can you help me I saw this chicken and I want to know what color is it I really would love to have one iam pretty sure it's a wyandottes thanks

Can't tell from that pic.... Maybe a buff laced or salmon????? does the book or magazine not tell you what she is?

She is not a SLW, BLRW or GLW.

There is another thread on here called can a wyandotte have a straight comb. They say one or 2 breeders have a straight comb in their flock as it increases fertility. I just thought I would throw it in there......

Hatcheries also have straight comes to produce more offspring. So if you ordered from a hatchery you will likely have a few at right combed dottes. Having straight combs are hard to rid of as they will keep popping up through generation. They are still wyandottes, just not SOP. Or good to breed them with just straight combs......

Silly4buttonz. That is likely a salmon or pyle.
