I let the girls out with the ducks today, and they are doing great!

Can anyone who has hatched blue laced silvers (violet laced) tell me what color the chicks are at hatch? Yellow? White? Chipmunk?

I wish I knkpw but I am still new at this chick think I would say either Yellow/Chipmunk,

When I got mine I couldn't tell them apart from the SLW. I had to wait till they feathered in. It was really clear the blue feathers next to the black. I am just starting to hatch from my pen and I don't expect to be able to tell them at hatch. I will keep all those till I know what color they are. There are a few eggs I kinda KNOW are from my splash and I might keep those separated as they HAVE to be blue.

My gold laced are 5 and still laying.

Cool, thanks! We didn't get any eggs this morning, but I think we will get one tomorrow! Are they ok to eat, or after a certain age of the hen you cant eat them?

Absolutely nothing wrong with them. My hen is still hatching hers.
