I think they're younger than 10 weeks but older than 3. I personally think pullet. I'd definitely grow them out more before giving up on them

The curved beak one I am going to cull ... But I'm hanging onto the other in hopes it turns out to be a pullet (fingers crossed)

Since its growing you may as well try to get him to processing weight. Might as well get something out of the time you put into hin

@DMRippy , @LonelyPageTurne , @carriebain , I love the color in those red splash Wyandottes. Whats the genetics of it? I tried the chicken calculator and did not see an option for red splash. Only option was Splash and that was giving me "Splash x Splash" = Splash 100%. Is that true? Is it kind of a recessive gene that only expresses when both sets are Splash?

Blue laced red wyandottes have the andalusian blue gene so you get the same results as the rest.

Splash x splash is all splash but the red will be washed out if you do it long
Blue x splash is half blue half splash
Black x splash is all blue
Black x blue is half blue half black
Blue x blue you get all the colors.

it's the splash version of blue laced reds. the lacing can be either blue black or splash and still be a blrw.

I found a surprise olive egg in my nesting box the other day and have been trying to figure out who is laying it, considering I don't have a olive egger old enough to lay yet. So, today I was checking on my broody and in the box was my splash wyandotte, she was laying a egg.... Well.... She is the olive egger!!!! Has anyone seen this before? My mind is seriously blown! b

i also have this same question i recently separated my black wyandotte hen and blue wyandotte rooster to collect eggs and sure enough she lays olive eggs as well. Is this common?

no, it's not common, it's just wrong. a Wyandotte should lay a brown egg (some lighter than others). if you were to show and she drops an olive egg, the judge would dq her on the spot.

I'm not good with genetics, hopefully someone answered your question.

where did you buy your hen from? It's not common at all and definatly isn't right.
