these are LF not bantams you take a barred rock cross to black wyandotte then cross son back to mother when you get 100% barred you have the barred gene take that roo breed to the barred wyandotte hens and you got some barred wyandottes so far the hens lay a large brown egg all have nice yellow legs the only problem i have had is blue barred has come up in some

Not sure that info was easy to follow.

You crossed a Barred Rock x Black Wyandotte. I am assuming that was a BR rooster and you got 100% barred chicks.

Then you used one of those Barred Cockerels x Black Wyandotte again? With that cross you only get 50% barred since the rooster from the first cross only has one copy of the barring gene. OR did you cross that Barred Cockerel from the first cross to his sisters?

You want to make sure you use a double barred cockerel so they will breed true. Pullets/hens can only have one copy.

If you never crossed a blue in my guess is your black wyandotte was a very dark blue.... or could your BR have been blue? I have blue barred rocks.... very pretty birds too. The blue barring is harder to get the barring on for some reason.

The two with "eyeliner and dark V's on the head look very similar to my welsummer chicks...

I have 6 x 1 week old BLRW chicks. 2 of them are Splash. Out of the remaining 4, two have a different head pattern than the other two are slightly bigger than them as well. I am posting some pictures to see what the experts think. Is it just a difference in patterns? If yes than what kind if someone knows. OR does it signify difference in sexes? Here the pics of one type: As you notice, these two above have a have an almost bronze colored head with a small pattern near the crown as well as bronze around the eyes with remarkable yellow eye-lids. Whereas these 2 above do not have any brown/bronze on the head close to the crown or around the eyes. These two are the lighter ones. Sorry just trying to figure out if there is any method to this madness. Looking forward to your input.
