If i had to guess at this point i would say pullets. There combs would be darker red to be roos.I too have a questionable wyandotte. We bought Pepper as a pullet, but the combs and wattles are making me real nervous. It does seem to be darker when Pepper is excited, but the wattles are the only ones I can see on any of my chicks. Granted they are all different breeds. This picture is almost a week old now, but thoughts? 4.5 almost five weeks old.![]()

I believe so. My brother had six hens that would do the same except one she didnt like anyone.Pepper was bought as a pullet, but I know mistakes happen. So I really hope you are right. Here she is outside in the sun yesterday. Right after this picture was snapped she flew up to my shoulder to perch. Pepper is very fond of me, and the feeling is mutual. I really dont want to part with her. So hopefully Pepper is a her.
I was given (Oct 2016) these 5 Blue "Wyandottes" that came from Dels/TSC (HI) during last year's Chick Sale (March 2016), she thought they were (6) BLRW (one died). They weren't laying yet, since I'm interested in eggs she "gave" them to me until she could find a Cock to breed to.
Their combs are off some but it's hatchery stock, it's their leg coloring I'm wondering about, it's not yellow but grayish/black, should the legs be yellow? Don't really matter to me as they are very sweet & docile, quiet and laying every day, except one who's gone broody on me (2x). Trying to break her but this time she's determined.
Making sure she eats & drinks, she has lost half a pound 3.5wks, got me concerned but told by the person I got her from "she'll be fine". They all prefer to lay in one nest, she collects all the eggs under her which I remove daily. 4 eggs a day is fine but I'm just worried about the weight loss, will she ever give up?
