The Wyandotte Thread

Well, someone suggested I pluck them.

But I think that may be against the rules.c

Nah go ahead and pluck him before you go to your show. I've seen people plucking their polish right in the show and nothing happened to them. It's considered "cleaning up" your bird.

Wish they were hear. Mike

I have some young birds of different breeds that I hatched last March and only a few of them are laying.they probably won't start til closer to spring as the days get longer.I am about to decide that you get a longer laying season by hatching your chicks in the fall and grow them out during the winter and by spring they are ready to go.Some larger breeds will not mature and start before shorter days arrive in fall therefore skippnig til the following spring.

You really need a perfect side view to get a realistic impression of the bird... I see some smuttiness in her feathers, and her body type seems too lean. Her back appears a bit long too but that might be the bad angle. Just MHO

Take a look at some of the pics from Mrs Turbo and Katy they have really nice Wyandottes.

What a great thread...I just had to read it from the beginning! I don't have Wyandottes...yet. I've been seriously considering ordering some bantams from Sand Hill. I really want to get some black and blue bantam Wyandottes...and you guys have definitely sold me on the breed.
